Study of some toxic metals in parts from catfish (Silurus triostegus) in Shatt Al-Arab river

According to their toxicity, toxic heavy metals such as arsenic, mercury, cadmium, copper, zinc, and lead are believed be the most harmful humans, fish, environment. Because levels rising due human activities endangering aquatic species people, current study sought ascertain level of in five catfish parts (skin, liver, muscles, gills, ovaries). In northern part Shatt Al-Arab, samples were collected March 2022. ICP-MS was used detect target metal levels. results, arsenic accumulated skin muscles at a rate 0.22 0.21ppm, respectively. contrast, various body not statistically different. Additionally, cadmium showed no noticeable variances studied parts. Furthermore, liver had significant copper accumulation 18.72ppm. mercury shown vary statistically, with highest 0.66ppm. addition, zinc following sequence: ovaries, skin, respectively, while ovaries respectively lead. Moreover, there differences quantity zirconium that accumulated. study, catfish’s did accumulate high rates. This may area environment mechanisms treating these types by catfish.
